Moral Intelligence: Enhancing Business Performance and Leadership Success is the subject of the Richard P. Gifford Lecture in Business Ethics on Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Ballroom, Hall Campus Center.
Doug Lennick, CEO and co-founder of Think2Perform (previously, the Lennick Aberman Group), is the guest speaker. Known for his innovative approaches to developing high performance in individuals and organizations, Lennick is an expert at developing practical applications of the art and science of human behavior, financial and otherwise.
Lennick, a certified financial planner (CFP), was previously executive vice president — advice and retail distribution for American Express Financial Advisors (now Ameriprise Financial). In that capacity, he led an organization of 17,000 field and corporate associates to unprecedented success. Although no longer full-time at Ameriprise, he retains the title of executive vice president and senior adviser to chairman and CEO Jim Cracchiolo.
Lennick and co-author Fred Kiel, PhD, recently released their newest book, Moral Intelligence 2.0: Enhancing Business Performance and Leadership Success in Turbulent Times. One year earlier, Lennick released the popular title, Financial Intelligence: How to Make Smart, Values-Based Decisions with Your Money and Your Life. He is co-author of the internationally successful and original title, Moral Intelligence (Wharton School Publishing). He is also author of The Simple Genius (You) and co-author with Roy Geer, PhD, of How to Get What You Want and Remain True to Yourself.
In November 2000, Lennick was honored by Columbia University’s Center for Social and Emotional Education. He is a fellow at the Carlson Executive Development Center, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota at Minneapolis. He is also a member of the prestigious Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations.
The lecture is sponsored by the Lynchburg College School of Business and Economics and a book signing will follow.
The late Richard P. Gifford was a vice president for General Electric and a leader in the business, civic, educational, and religious life of the Lynchburg community. After his death, friends and business colleagues established in his honor and memory an endowment to bring to the Lynchburg College campus and local community a series of outstanding and nationally recognized executives and scholars in business, leadership, and economics.
