The Thelema Trio, a Belgian contemporary classical ensemble, will appear in concert at University of Lynchburg on Tuesday, November 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Sydnor Performance Hall. The College’s Ad Astra trio will also perform.
An ensemble that believes in music without boundaries, the Thelema Trio promotes and performs new music from the 21st century and has become a voice for many contemporary composers. The trio’s sound comes from a unique combination of piano, saxophone, and clarinet.
Performances offer a wide range of styles, new performance techniques, and a chance for each performer to shine. The ensemble has performed in concert halls in Belgium, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Peru, and the United States.
The University of Lynchburg Ad Astra Trio will present works by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Claude Debussy. Ad Astra is comprised of LC seniors Matthew Booth, piano; Anna Piddubna, violin; and Teresa Crist, cello.
