LC's delegation, representing New Zealand, won a Distinguished Delegation award and two Outstanding Position Paper awards at the 2012 National Model UN simulation in New York City.

Sixteen students participatied in the vigorous academic simulation of the United Nations in New York City April l-5 and received a briefing from New Zealand's ambassador to the UN.

Dr. Eric S. Kyper, assistant professor of management information systems, has received the 2012 C. Raine Sydnor Sr. Professorship Award for Teaching Excellence in Business.

Dr. Kyper teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in information systems and business statistics. Awarded the PhD by the University of Rhode Island, he taught at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock before joining the Lynchburg College faculty in 2008. 

LC Theatre will present The Laramie Project April 12 - 15 in Dillard Theatre. The Laramie Project was written by Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project following the kidnapping, beating, and death of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old student at the University of Wyoming who was attacked because he was gay.

Lynchburg College students actively use Facebook, download videos, tweet, and search the internet. In their Social Media Marketing course in the School of Business and Economics (SOBE), students are using their digital savvy to help others.

They have formed Students Opposing Starvation (S.O.S) to help save the lives of malnourished children in East Africa and are organizing a social media campaign targeting LC students, faculty and friends.

The History Department is hosting the Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference this Saturday. Students from several Virginia colleges and universities will present research papers in American, European, and world history in Schewel Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
