Study Abroad

Student AbroadStudents who intend to major in French will, upon consultation with the instructor, plan the series of courses on the various phases of the civilization, literature, and instructions of French which best fit their need or which  correlates best with their general course of study.

Study abroad is strongly encouraged. The foreign study advisor, or other faculty members, will help students plan their programs and make their arrangements.

Lynchburg College is a member of the Council on International Educational Exchange and offers to students in French the possibility of studying for one or two semesters in Rennes (Brittany) France or in the summer in Rueil-Malmaison.  This program can include courses not only in French, but also in international comparative education, in French history and civilization, and other course work.

Full course credit toward graduation at Lynchburg College is given for work completed in this program.  The cost of this program is usually comparable to Lynchburg College's fee.

It is strongly recommended that students spend a year, semester, or summer term studying and living in Spain or Latin America.

Dancer on StageLynchburg College maintains an affiliation with the International University Studies (IUS) for those students interested in studying in Spain.  Lynchburg College faculty teach in the IUS program during the summer term while the regular academic term courses are taught by professors holding advanced degrees from Spanish universities.

For those students interested in studying in Latin America, Lynchburg College endorses the programs sponsored by International Studies Abroad (ISA).

ISA and Lynchburg College's programs in Spanish and International Relations have developed an alternative spring break experience for LC students.  On a three-year cycle, LC students will have the opportunity to study and travel in either Argentina, Costa Rica, or Spain.
