Unwell

Posted on 11/17/2009

Well, this past week has been something less than spectacular - I finally got sick. After avoiding being sick for so long, and taking every precaution to stay well, it seems my time had come. Even though I was sick all week, it could have been much worse for two reasons. First, I could have had a lot of work to do last week, which would have been miserable. But instead, last week was actually a relatively relaxed week as far as school work was concerned. Secondly, I ended up with nothing more than just a bad cold, which is quite fortunate after the amount of people at LC who have had the flu this semester. So, it could have been worse, but it was still really annoying and prevented me from doing anything fun outside. It would figure that the week I get sick, we have one of the nicest weekends in a long time - 70s and sunny - in the middle of November. Oh well.

Being sick is never fun, and sometimes it's inevitable, especially at college, where you live within such a close proximity to hundreds or thousands of other students. It is very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle while you are at college. This can mean anything from eating healthier, to taking vitamins, to keeping your residence clean, to always washing your hands. All of these are very helpful to your ability to avoid getting sick. I was in trouble from the beginning, because my roommate got sick first, and then it was only a matter of time, but in a lot of cases, you can avoid getting sick by being cautious. The most important precaution you can take is definitely washing your hands and using hand sanitizer, even if it seems unnecessary. Washing your hands a bunch is much less annoying than being sick for a week, I  think everyone will agree with me on that.

But this is the last week before a full week off for Thanksgiving break! I am quite excited about this and am trying to get well so that I can fully enjoy the holiday.
