Experience/Background
Mrs. Messerschmidt's teaching experiences include twelve years at the elementary, middle and secondary levels in Iowa, Guatemala, Illinois and Pennsylvania. She served as Director of Lifelong Learning/Continuing Education at Westminster College in Pennsylvania for five years before coming to Lynchburg in 1985. Upon arrival at Lynchburg College, Mrs. Messerschmidt held the position of Director of the ACCESS Program where she was in charge of adult student marketing, admissions, advising and program development; she also served as Summer School Coordinator for a number of years. Mrs. Messerschmidt joined the faculty of the School of Education and Human Development in 1992.

Recipient of Eisenhower Grant for Math, Science & Technology Education (1993-94, 1994-95) to provide professional development graduate study and workshops for area K-6 teachers in math and science; and to develop Math/Science Teacher Resource Center at Lynchburg College.
