Kris Martin-Baker has been working with Internet technologies since 1999 and has served as the Lynchburg College webmaster since early 2003. Previous employers include Electronic Arts, Education and Training Corporation, and the University of Virginia. She is a member of HigherEdExperts, the International Webmasters Association-HTML Writers Guild, the Web Standards Group and the College Communicators Association.  She is also a Certified Usability Analyst.

Kris oversaw the 2005 redesign of the Lynchburg College site and the implementation of a content management system to enable content owners to directly manage their own Web pages. She currently administers the content management system while continually seeking to improve all areas of the site.   Centralized management of CSS and XSL stylesheets simplify incremental redesigns of the whole site or of any part.

Kris has strong interests in cognitive science and ergonomics.  In the Web field, this translates into such areas as interaction and interface design, usability and user-centered design.  Kris is also an artist and graphic designer.

Kris is familiar with many web technologies, such as CSS, JavaScript, ASP, PHP, Java, SQL, XML, XSL, and, of course, (X)HTML. She has has kept current in her field by continuing topical research and by taking continuing education courses in user-centered design and analysis, usability testing, web and application design, Macromedia Flash, Adobe PhotoShop and Illustrator, technical writing, web-based course design, Internet legal issues, graphic design, XML, XSL, Section 508 issues, online course design, and Web project management. She is also an MBA candidate.
