Alumni Spotlight: Katie
Meet Katie, from Columbia, Maryland. She is a May, 2011 graduate of LC who finished in the top 2 percent of her class, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 3.97 GPA.
A management major, Katie was also very active in clubs and service at LC. She was a tutor at the Wilmer Writing Center, a Delta Sigma Pi member, served on the Student Activities Board, and was active in the Catholic community on campus.
We asked Katie a couple of questions:
What are you doing now?
"I interviewed for my current job in late June, and started working on August 8, 2011. I am the Administrative Assistant/Event Coordinator for Maryland Youth Football, located in Columbia, MD. The company provides state-wide coverage and information on all the youth leagues and organizations that participate in the Maryland Youth Football State Championship, in addition to its own indoor leagues and Jamborees."
Why did you choose a management major?
"Being a management major was a good choice for me because it combined my three primary interests in going to college - people, academics, and attaining a job after graduation!
I not only learned about how people act and work in the 'real world,' but I was able to network and engage with people in the business community of Lynchburg.
I was provided with the resources and knowledge to help obtain my current job, and my management classes in particular were highly interactive and close-knit - you really get to know the people within the major and make connections with them that last longer than one semester."
