1. What Does the Library Have?

2. What is Allowed in the Library?

  • Studying

  • Internet access and Microsoft Office software are available on most of the library's PCs and all of the loaned laptops. Bring your own laptop and connect through the WiFi network.
  • Snacks and drinks are permitted. Please throw away all trash.

  • Printing

    - Free
  • Photocopying

    - $0.10 per page

3. How Do I See if the Library Has Something I Need?

Use the Quick Search box from the library main page and your results will look like this:

4. Does the Library Have any Online Databases?

Yes, we offer over 50 online databases, many with full text articles. These are accessible on and off campus through the library's main page.

5. Does the Library Have Materials for Grades K - 12?

Yes, these items are in the Curriculum lab on the 2nd floor.

6. Are There Textbooks for my Classes in the Library?

The library usually does not collect textbooks.

7. What are Reserves?

Reserves are items your instructor makes available for your use for a specific course. Click on the link for Course Reserves on the library's main page to see what is on reserve for a professor or a specific class.

8. What do I do if the Library does not Own Something I Want?

You may use the Interlibrary Loan service. Use the link on the library's home page to access the forms for requesting books or articles.

9. Does the Library Have Information on the Different Citation Styles?

Yes, we have handouts, books, and links on our web pages covering many citation styles.

10. May I Use my Cell Phone in the Library?

Please set phones to silent while you are in the library. Cell phones may be used next door in Schewel Hall or outside.

11. How Do I Get Help Using the Library?

12. Does the Library Provide Blank CDs?

You can purchase writeable CDs for $1 each at the circulation desk.

13. May I Send or Receive a Fax in the Library?

Unfortunately, no. Faxes may be sent from the Information Center in Hall Campus Center. The Business Office receives faxes for students at the cost of $1 per page 434/544-8658.

14. What if I Have a Suggestion for the Library (Policy, Item Recommendation, or Anything Else?)

You are encouraged to recommend items and ways to make the library a better place to study. There are links to forms to suggest a purchase or make a general suggestion on the main page of the catalog.

15. How do I Check Something Lut from the Library and How Long May I Keep It?

Your student ID card is the only thing you need to check out items.
