LC Professional Studies Summer Institute is an Alternative Teacher Licensure Program for professionals with a college degree desiring to teach in Virginia.*

Dates: June 23 - August 1, 2008

What is LC Teach?

LC Teach is a full-time, intensive, six-week comprehensive program designed to help individuals who already hold an undergraduate degree and meet the state competencies for teacher preparation professional studies. This state-approved program satisfies the professional preparation course requirements for Elementary (PK-6)* and Secondary (6-12). LC Teach is suitable for applicants seeking K-12 endorsement programs (including health/physical education, foreign language, art, music, business, and/or technology education) only if they have an active provisional license. (Attach complete provisional license copy to application.)

Participants will earn six hours of non-degree graduate credit. All classes will be held on the College campus from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00p.m. daily, with occasional afternoon activities scheduled and required.  Additional afternoon activities are scheduled regularly and required.

Participants who wish to pursue licensure in elementary or middle school education will need to take an additional reading course offered at a separate time. The foreign language endorsement requires an additional specialized methods course that is not included in this program.
