Experience/Background
Hi! I'm Jim Koger, currently in the fourth academic incarnation--which means that LC is my fourth position since completing my graduate work at Rice University, via undergraduate degree at Sewanee (The University of the South). I taught seven years at UTK (main campus of the University of Tennessee), eight years at Birmingham-Southern College, and two frigid years at Bemidji State University in northern Minnesota (yes, there ARE degrees of north in Minnesota) before coming to LC as English Department Chair in 1986.

Professional/Research Interests
I started and coached the women's soccer team here for four years before directing academic computing for three years. Last year I returned to the English Department full-time and am enjoying teaching English again.
Personal Information
My interests include music, motorcycling, mysteries, and Native Americans (I am 1/4 Cherokee). I live in one of the historic districts of Lynchburg (Garland Hill) with my wife, two adult children, two cats and a dog. Home repair is, of course, included with an old house.
