Dr. Jong H. Kim

Dr. Jong H. Kim (kim@lynchburg.edu) is professor of music and director of choral activities/vocal studies at Lynchburg College, where he conducts College choirs and the Choral Union and teaches advanced music theory and voice. He also serves as the coordinator of graduate studies in music.

Dr. Kim has been a guest conductor for many professional, community, and high school honor choirs and orchestras in the United States and Korea, including the Suncheon City Choir, the Daejeon Philharmonic Choir, the Incheon City Chorale, and the Utah Valley Symphony Orchestra and Choral Society. Frequently performing as a soloist and chorister, he sang most recently with the professional Oregon Bach Festival Choir and the Carnegie Hall Choral Workshop Choir under the direction of renowned maestro Helmuth Rilling. He serves as director of music at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg; chorus master for the Opera on the James; and music director and conductor of the Washington Soloist Ensemble, a Korean-American semi-professional chamber choir in the Washington, D.C. area.

A native of Seoul, Korea, Dr. Kim holds a doctor of musical arts in choral conducting from Michigan State University, a master of music in choral conducting from the Eastman School of Music, and a master of music and a bachelor of music in composition from Chung-Ang University in South Korea.
