Assistant Professor - Theatre, Designer/Technical Director
The Lynchburg College Theatre Department invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Theatre, Designer/Technical Director, beginning fall 2014. This is a nine-month position, renewable, with expected conversion to tenure-track after two years. Must possess the ability to teach one beginning tech course and one design course each semester; design and execute one musical, two small productions, and one dance concert annually; and oversee the theatre facility. The successful candidate will need to have well-rounded knowledge in design, building, lighting, rigging, sound, and props. Highly organized, the successful candidate must have the ability to work with theatre majors and non-majors, as well as guest artists from the community and supervise and train student employees and crews. MFA is required. Selected candidate must successfully pass a background check.
Lynchburg College is a private college located in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The Lynchburg region has a very healthy theatrical/cultural climate with five colleges, two universities, community theatres and a professional summer theatre company within a forty-mile radius.
