Dr. Pamela JamesDr. Pamela A. James (james.p@lynchburg.edu), Assistant Professor of Music

Dr. James is a creative and versatile musician with more than twenty years of experience in music performance and teaching. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education from Shenandoah Conservatory with a dissertation on the history of aesthetics in music education. Her Master of Music Education degree, also from Shenandoah Conservatory, culminated with a thesis on children's response to music listening. Dr. James received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music (Vocal Performance) from The Catholic University of America.

Dr. James' professional credits as both chorister and soloist include seventeen seasons with the Washington Concert Opera and sixteen seasons with the Wolf Trap Opera. In addition, she has performed for many seasons with such distinguished companies as the Washington National Opera, the Washington Bach Consort, the Cathedral Choral Society, the Crittendon Opera Studio, and the Washington Savoyards.

An experienced music educator, Dr. James provides voice training and coaching of soloists in preparation for auditions and performance. She has also developed and taught curricula for various programs for group instruction in vocal technique, ear training and sight singing, as well as choral programs and musical theatre in private schools.
