The James Dickey Review
The James Dickey Review is an independent, nonprofit, professional literary journal currently administrated by students and faculty at Lynchburg College.
Though attempting to maintain an artistic and intellectual connection to the work of James Dickey, the James Dickey Review accepts all manner of poetry, nonfiction, scholarly articles, and book reviews.
The journal is published twice yearly, is assigned International Standard Series Number (ISSN) 2166-4382, is indexed in The Modern Language Association International Bibliography and The Humanities Index, and is cataloged in the Library of Congress.
History
The first issue of the James Dickey Newsletter appeared in fall 1984 under the supervision of its founding editor, Joyce M. Pair. The original editorial board included Matthew J. Bruccoli, Louis D. Rubin, Jr., Dave Smith, Monroe K. Spears, Floyd C. Watkins, Jr., and Calhoun Winton.
In addition, an Advising/Contributing Editorial panel provided practical guidance and support necessary to the new publication. These editors included Ronald Baughman, David Bottoms, Jane Bowers-Hill, Richard J. Calhoun, Fred Chappell, Robert C. Covel, Robert W. Hill, T. R. Hummer, Laurence Lieberman, Hugh Moore, and Gordon Van Ness.
Based in Atlanta under Pair's editorship for two decades, the journal relocated its editorial and publication offices to the University of South Carolina during the first decade of the 21st century. Its successive editors in Columbia were William B. Thesing and Thorne Compton.
In spring 2010 the journal moved to Lynchburg College in Virginia under the editorship of Casey Clabough, who leads the journal's writers' retreat every summer on Hatteras Island, North Carolina (to apply, query: jamesdickeyreview@lynchburg.edu).
