
At Lynchburg College, the primary purposes of the internship are to:
- provide an opportunity for students to work directly in an outside firm or agency so that they may connect the classroom and the work environment
- allow the student an opportunity to experience the working world so as to solidify career goals
- test possible career choices
- develop personal competencies
- discover more about oneself
- plan for the future.
Internships at Lynchburg College (link to database is from on-campus only) can be paid or non-paid, credit bearing or non-credit bearing, with a for-profit or non-profit organization or company. Since August 2004, 282 Lynchburg College students have completed 336 internships for credit. Ninety-four students earned 419 credits through internships at for-profit sites and 188 students earned 652 credits through internships at non-profit organizations in Lynchburg and beyond.
