Summer Transition Program

Your college experience begins here

The Summer Transition Program (STP) is open and free to students of diverse social, ethnic, religious, racial, and national cultures, as well as first-generation college students and those who are Pell Grant eligible.

STP helps you transition from your high school environment to being a student at Lynchburg College. Statistics show that students who come to STP are more successful at LC.

You’ll receive an application packet in the mail after you pay your enrollment deposit. In the meantime, if you have questions about STP, please contact us at ims@lynchburg.edu or 434.544.8330.

Your five-day schedule includes:

  • Campus tour
  • Service project
  • Speakers
  • Educational workshops
  • Cultural programs
  • Teambuilding exercises
  • Socials...and much more

Benefits of STP

  • You get to move into your room early
  • You meet fellow new students, current students, faculty, staff, and alumni
  • You learn your way around campus buildings, programs, services, and opportunities
  • You gain valuable skills like time management, getting along with your roommate, and study tactics
  • You'll make some great new friends!

STP Develops Leaders

STP students become campus and community leaders as well as recipients of local and national awards.

After STP, you might get a position as a resident assistant or hall director, become a Bonner Leader, Westover Honors Society member, Student Activities Board chair, Connection Leader, Student Government Association president... or an STP leader!

Career development seminars and the general studies course, "Introduction to Computer Concepts," are funded by grants from Verizon, the DuPont Foundation, and the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges.
