Symphonic Wind EnsembleThe purpose of the Lynchburg College Wind Ensemble is to develop ensemble techniques, music reading ability, and general musicianship, as well as to acquaint students with a wide variety of collegiate literatures. For music majors who will become teachers, the wind ensemble will provide experience in organization, music selection, and program planning. For non-music majors, it offers all participants opportunities to perform and become more disciplined in this endeavor. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs three major concerts per semester. Membership is by audition. The conductor of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble is Dr. Oeida Hatcher. |
Jazz EnsembleThe Jazz Ensemble is composed of a select group of musicians who share a common interest in the specific style of jazz literature. There are openings in the respective fields of brass, woodwinds, and percussion. This ensemble is open to all students, regardless of major, and is a fulfilling experience for each participant. The conductor of the Jazz Ensemble is Harry Farmer. |
Brass EnsembleThe Brass Ensemble is much like the Jazz Ensemble, in that it is composed of a select group of brass players who have an interest in broadening their musical abilities as well as performing a variety of repertories. Entrance into this ensemble is solely up to the conductor, Kevin Paul. The Brass Ensemble performs several times throughout the semester, rehearsing on a schedule set by the conductor. |

Chamber Music Ensemble
The Chamber Music Ensemble is composed of a select group of string and woodwind musicians who have an interest in performing a variety of chamber repertories. Entrance into this ensemble is solely up to the director, Dr. Oeida Hatcher.Handbell Choir
This ensemble is composed of LC students and a select group of community members, college professors, and graduates who perform traditional as well as contemporary handbell music. Previous handbell experience and a basic music reading ability preferred, but no auditions are required.
