
Symphonic Wind Ensemble
The purpose of the Lynchburg College Wind Ensemble is to develop ensemble techniques, music reading ability, and general musicianship, as well as to acquaint students with a wide variety of collegiate literatures. For music majors who will become teachers, the wind ensemble will provide experience in organization, music selection, and program planning. For non-music majors, it offers all participants opportunities to perform and become more disciplined in this endeavor. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs three major concerts per semester. Membership is by audition. The conductor of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble is Dr. Oeida M. Hatcher.

Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble is composed of a select group of musicians who share a common interest in the specific style of jazz literature. There are openings in the respective fields of brass, woodwinds, and percussion. This ensemble is open to all students, regardless of major, and is a fulfilling experience for each participant. The conductor of the Jazz Ensemble is Harry Farmer.

Brass Ensemble
The Brass Ensemble is composed of a select group of brass players who have an interest in broadening their musical abilities as well as performing a variety of repertories. Entrance into this ensemble is solely up to the conductor, Mark Campbell. The Brass Ensemble performs several times throughout the semester, rehearsing on a schedule set by the conductor.

Percussion Ensemble
The Lynchburg College Percussion Ensemble presents concerts at the end of both the fall and spring semesters. Its repertoire includes a broad range of percussion literature, ranging in scope from baroque transcriptions to twentieth century avante-guard compositions and includes both large-ensemble pieces and solo works. Percussion Ensemble members are also encouraged to work creatively and to arrange, transcribe, or compose various works for their concerts. Entrance into this ensemble is solely at the discretion of the director, Brian Smith.

Orchestra
The purpose of the Lynchburg College Orchestra is to develop ensemble techniques, music reading ability, and general musicianship, as well as to acquaint students with a wide variety of collegiate literatures. For music majors who will become teachers, the orchestra will provide experience in organization, music selection, and program planning. Handbell Choir
This ensemble is composed of LC students, professors, alumni, and a select group of community members, who perform traditional as well as contemporary handbell music. Previous handbell experience and a basic music reading ability preferred, but no auditions are required. For more information, contact Mr. Johnson Scott, handbell director.

Chamber Music Ensembles
The Chamber Music Ensembles are composed of select groups of string, brass, and woodwind musicians who have an interest in performing a variety of chamber repertories. Entrance into these ensembles is solely up to the directors, Dr. Oeida M. Hatcher and Dr. Cynthia B. Ramsey.

Piano Performance Ensemble

Paderewsky Piano Club
