Request for Review of Research Modification

The LC IRB does not review submissions over College closings observed by nine-month faculty (summer break, winter break, etc.). Moodle is not available for form uploads until the start of the fall semester. Please email all research modification forms to IRB Chair Sharon Foreman Kready, PhD, MSW (Assistant Professor of Sociology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences) at kready.s@lynchburg.edu.

To request review of a modification to an ongoing research project, please complete the Research Modification Form (Word doc) and submit it via the "IRB for Human Subjects Research" Moodle page to the chair of the committee. (The research modification form was modified from a document provided by Claremont Graduate University.)

Any change to an approved research project, including research plan, consent process and form, co-investigators, other research personnel, and/or methods of subject recruitment, requires submission of a Research Modification Form. You will also need to include a detailed explanation of the reason(s) you are seeking to modify your previously approved research project. In addition, you must also include any revised instruments, questionnaires, letters of cooperation, informed consent forms, etc.

Research Modification Forms must be submitted via the "IRB for Human Subjects Research" Moodle page. If the modifications are for student research, the student researcher must complete the form and have his/her faculty research sponsor submit the form via the "IRB for Human Subjects Research" Moodle page.

Modifications to research projects may not be initiated until IRB approval has been obtained.
