Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Human Subjects Research

The submission forms and procedure instructions are being revised during the summer months.

The LC IRB does not review submissions over College closings observed by nine-month faculty (summer break, winter break, etc.).

(As disseminated 5/3/13 in an email to all LC faculty and staff:) The final full board meeting of the IRB Committee for the spring semester took place on Thursday, May 2.

Members of the IRB Committee will review the submissions uploaded by the May 10 deadline until the official last day of the spring semester exam period (Tuesday, May 14). Please be advised that, as in years past, the IRB Committee will continue to observe the schedule followed by nine-month faculty members for the summer terms.

The IRB Committee will begin reviewing any exempt and expedited proposals (new submissions and any proposal revisions; and modifications and renewal/closure requests) submitted over the summer break starting on the official first day of classes for the fall semester (Thursday, August 22). The full board review schedule for fall semester (including deadlines for full board review submissions) and IRB information session/training opportunities for researchers will be disseminated to all faculty and staff in a separate email at the start of the fall semester.

There will be a new submission site for 2013-2014 proposals - instructions for submission will be sent in an email to faculty and staff at the start of the fall semester.

If you have any questions about the IRB or human subject research at LC, please contact the incoming chair, Sharon Kready (kready.s@lynchburg.edu), or the incoming vice-chair, Deanna Cash (cash.d@lynchburg.edu).
