**The College provides free AVG anti-virus software for Windows-based computers. For all computers, students should bring the original manufacturer's CD that came with their computers.

Although Netbooks, Chromebooks and iPad-like computing devices provide enhanced portability and functionality, they may not be able to meet all of the computing needs of a student. If you choose to purchase one of these devices, it should be viewed as a supplemental device to one of the recommended computers.

Office 365 for Students

Lynchburg College’s Office of Information Technology & Resources, in a partnership with Microsoft, is giving each currently enrolled student access to full-versions of Microsoft Office and Office Mobile for FREE! This can be installed simultaneously on 5 devices and is available for PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile.

Depending on your operating system, here's what Office includes:

  • Office on your PC includes Access, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.
  • Office on your Mac includes Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

If you are a first year student for the fall semester of 2014, check your email for activation instructions.  Otherwise, please email the ITR Help Desk (help@lynchburg.edu) with your request to have an account set up.
