The nurse-directed health center is operated under the direct medical supervision of Forest Family Physicians.
Our experienced RNs can assess and recommend treatment for a variety of health issues. Serious illnesses are referred to the nurse practitioner, the physicians, or to other health care providers.
Transportation to off-campus medical facilities can be arranged by the Health Center during regular hours or by contacting Campus Security (434.544.8100) after-hours and weekends.
Appointments are not required, but are strongly encouraged if you need to see the nurse practitioner or physician.

Referrals to physicians or other community health care providers are arranged when necessary or at the request of the student. Physicians are available to students in the Health Center on Thursday mornings and in their local office, Forest Family Physicians, during regular office hours.
Routine visits to the Student Health Center are provided without charge. Charges for medications, lab tests, and special examinations (e.g., women's health exams) can be billed to the student's tuition account or paid for by the student.
Kroger Pharmacy (434.384.3666) delivers prescriptions to campus. This local pharmacy provides prescription billing and files with insurance companies when required information is provided. Other pharmacies are also available to students, but they do not provide on-campus delivery.
All students are expected to have health insurance. Students should have a current insurance card (including prescription card) available for emergency or other off-campus medical care.
All consultations and medical records are kept completely confidential and in compliance with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) regulations. No information will be discussed with or released to anyone without the student's written consent. Medical records and academic records are not connected in any way.
