Experience/Background
Hey there! I'm Max Guggenheimer, an instructor of English at Lynchburg College. I teach three sections of freshman English, and I enjoy working with the newest additions to LC's student body. I'm a native of Lynchburg, raised... not born (I entered the world down in Mississippi... Yoknapatawpha County... Faulkner's postage stamp).
Degrees and Certifications
- B.A. in English and Fine Arts
1992
Virginia Military Institute
- M.Ed. in English Education
1998
Lynchburg College
Professional/Research Interests
My research interests include exploring the applications of freewriting in the composition classroom and using creative writing to teach writing as a process. I'm a big fan of Faulkner's fiction and all things Beat.
Personal Information
I love the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. When I'm not grading essays, I rush to the trails and to the beaches to hike, bike, and surf. Every now and then we all have to put down the books and pens, leave the computer stations, and practice living. I can exist on pizza alone. Peace to all.
