The information on this page represents grants and financial aid programs which help you pay for college. Funds from these sources do not have to be repaid.
Lynchburg College Grants
If you meet eligibility requirements, you will be automatically awarded Lynchburg College need-based grants. These grants are awarded after we have received your FAFSA results and you have been accepted to the College.
State Grant Programs

Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) is a non-need-based state grant available to all Virginia Residents who attend a private college full-time in the Commonwealth of Virginia. If you are a Virginia resident who will be attending Lynchburg College as a full-time student, complete the VTAG application prior to the July 31, 2012 deadline. VTAG is estimated at $2,750 for the 2012-2013 academic year. Application (PDF)

Virginia College Scholarship Assistance Program (CSAP) awards grant up to $5,000 per academic year to undergraduate residents of Virginia who have exceptional need and who carry a full-time course load.

State Programs for Non-Virginia Residents are available to students whose home states provide grants for residents to attend college. Some states that offer portable need-based grants are Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Check with your local state agency.

Two-Year College Transfer Grant Program (CTG) In 2007 this program was passed into law in Virginia. If you are graduating with your associate degree you will need to complete and submit your FAFSA and your final academic transcript with your associate degree posted to us. For more information, see the CTG program fact sheet (PDF). The base grant for all eligible full-time students is $1,000 ($500 per term). Students enrolling full-time into a science, teaching, engineering, mathematics (STEM) degree or nursing program may receive an additional $1,000 ($500 per term). Please be advised that state law requires that eligibility for state need-based grants, if any, may be adjusted due to the CTG award.
Federal Grant Programs

Federal Pell Grants provide assistance to exceptionally needy students in amounts up to $5,550 for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) provide assistance in amounts up to $4,000 for one academic year to exceptionally needy students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grants.

Teach Grant - through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.
G.I. Bill

Through Lynchburg College grants and the G.I. Bill, veterans who meet 100% Post 9/11 GI Bill eligibility and LC admissions requirements can attend Lynchburg College tuition-free.

Benefits are available for undergraduate and graduate programs.

Unused educational benefits may be transferred to children or spouses of qualifying veterans and active duty military.

Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) is a federally funded, need-based student employment program to assist students who need extra earnings from employment to help meet college costs.

Private/Outside Programs and Scholarships

Community organizations sometimes make funds available to students on the basis of academic merit or planned field of study. You can also inquire at your church and with any civic organizations, high schools, labor unions, or parents' employers.

FastWEB (Financial Aid Search Through the WEB) is the largest and most complete scholarship search on the Internet. It provides access to a searchable database of more than 400,000 private sector scholarships, fellowships, grants, and student loans available to students.
