Interdisciplinary Studies - Teacher Education - Elementary Education

The interdisciplinary studies - teacher education major with an elementary education emphasis is designed for individuals who will work with younger children in teaching situations (Grades PK-6)

To be eligible for licensure students must satisfactorily complete all of the following:

  • all required courses for graduation with a major in Elementary Education (listed below),
  • all required testing,
  • one semester of full-time student teaching.

    A) Four hours required if no psychology courses applied to general education.

*General Education/Laboratory Science: Students are required to complete 12 hours of laboratory science in total between general education and the major, not including psychology 103, 104, and labs. All eight hours of general education except psychology can be applied to this 12-hour requirement so that only 4 additional hours are required. Students who take 8 hours of lab psychology for general education will need to take an additional 12 hours of lab science to complete the major.
