What sparked your interest in physical therapy?
Sports injuries prompted my encounter with physical therapy at a young age. I was competitive and eager to return to sport, and physical therapy facilitated a speedy recovery. I soon learned the capabilities of the field are endless and individualized, and this is what initially fascinated me about physical therapy.
What's the most exciting part of the DPT program?
In my first year as SPT, cadaver lab was by far my greatest experience, as I had virtual lab at VT. I still remember the first day we unloaded the freezers and set up the tables. From there, the camaraderie my class displayed in conquering the anatomy with ease was a powerful thing to be a part of.
What do you hope to do with your degree?
Coming into PT school, my observation hours sparked my interest in wound care, working with veterans, traveling PT, and possibly research in concussion rehabilitation. At the moment, my professional goals are focused around pro bono care and mission work in these areas in the U.S. and abroad, as I love to travel. But my plans continue to evolve the more and more I learn about what physical therapy has to offer.
What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy volleyball, hiking, traveling, and admit I'm a foodie.
What is your favorite quote?
"I find the great in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it, - but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
"Two things define you. Your patience when you have nothing, and your attitude when you have everything." -- Anonymous
