Medical Facilities of America is dedicated to our students' success and wants to highlight students for their efforts! MFA has selected Ashley Hoath the Student of the Month for May.

Name: Ashley Hoath

Hometown: Alexandria, Va.

Undergraduate degree and school: Exercise Physiology, Lynchburg College

What her professor says: "Ashely has spent many hours tutoring classmates, LC undergraduates, and visiting high school students, helping them learn and appreciate human gross- and neuro-anatomy. She has been an enthusiastic supporter of the physical therapy program, assisting with orientation, student visits, and interviews. Ashley's service also extends to the national level, where she was recently selected to serve as an usher for the APTA House of Delegates; an honor bestowed to only 20 PT students in the U.S. each year. "

What sparked your interest in physical therapy? My undergraduate studies and experience in physical therapy as an athlete.

What's the most exciting part of the DPT program? Working alongside my DPT family; I love the faculty and my peers.

What do you hope to do with your degree? I am not exactly sure yet as I am interested in so many areas of the profession.

What are some of your hobbies? Soccer, hula hoops, water sports, ping pong, and reading

What is your favorite quote? It's actually the following poem, which I live by:

"Whether You Think You Can Or Think You Can't, You're Probably Right" -- Anonymous

If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think that you dare not, you don't:
If you'd like to win, but you think you can't,
It's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost;
For out in the world you'll find
Success begins with a fellow's will.
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are;
You've got to think high to rise;
You've got to be sure of yourself before
you can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
to the stronger or faster man;
but sooner or later the man who wins
is the man who thinks he can.

Anything else you would like to share? I really don't like losing at anything which is why my mom doesn't let me play Monopoly.
