Training educators and counselors for today and tomorrow

Counselor Education

This program offers two specialties - Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, both fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

Through promoting personal growth and academic excellence, emphasizing diversity of experience and ideas, and incorporating the learning of best practices, the Counselor Education Program trains students to be effective, ethical, professional practitioners for work in schools and agencies and for service and leadership in the counseling profession. A scholarship program is available to graduate students who are regular presenters at conferences.

Lynchburg College is proud to announce that LC counseling students who recently participated in a pilot of the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam (CPCE) have exceeded the national average. The College will now use the CPCE as its comprehensive exam. The CPCE is designed to assess counseling students' knowledge of counseling information and is used by more than 270 universities and colleges.
