Teachers of Promise
Six LC students have been selected to represent Lynchburg College in Richmond this weekend at the Teachers of Promise Institute. The Teachers of Promise Foundation seeks to recognize and support the best prospective public school teachers in the United States.
The students are: Beth Fasbinder '12, elementary education major; Cheryl Harte '12, biology and chemistry major; James McDaniel '12, biology major; Dana Robertson '12, elementary education major; Edgar Reyes '12, art major; and Jessica Scott, a graduate student in special education major.
"This is quite an honor," said Emily Helms, LC education instructor and faculty representative at the conference. "They will be provided a mentor teacher for the weekend, and the mentor will also follow them during their first year of teaching."
This two-day workshop will offer a variety of sessions ranging from "Creating Cultural Connections" to "Engaging Learners in Active Lessons."
