The League of Women Voters of Lynchburg and University of Lynchburg are co-sponsoring a Senatorial Forum for candidates in the 22nd and 23rd districts at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 in Sydnor Performance Hall, Schewel Hall at University of Lynchburg. The event is free and open to the public.
Candidates for the newly created 22nd District are Democrat Bert Dodson and Republican Tom Garrett. Candidates for the 23rd District are incumbent Republican Sen. Steve Newman and Democrat Robert Short Jr. All four candidates have been invited.
LC President Kenneth Garren will welcome voters to the forum, which will give each candidate an opportunity for short opening and closing statements. The League of Women Voters of Lynchburg will ask the first three questions and then take questions from the floor via paper. Joanna Harris will serve as moderator.
The LWVL will also have information tables to help voters figure out which Senate District they will vote in on Nov. 8.
