Matthew P. Jones, PhD

Assistant Professor of Physics

Education

  • PhD in Physics, Auburn University, 2011
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering, Clemson University, 2004
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Clemson University, 2000

Research Interests

Dr. Jones is an Atomic Molecular & Optical (AMO) experimentalist whose focus to date has been on time-dependent atomic and molecular phenomena (e.g., Auger decay, resulting from core photo-ionization of atomic targets; molecule dissociation, resulting from energetic ion interactions).

Personal Information

Dr. Jones thoroughly enjoys teaching - the communication of ideas by way of creative thought and expression. He believes we are privileged as humans to be able to study the principles that govern our universe and to investigate these principles which manifest themselves across many scales or size and time.

He enjoys rowing, traveling, and brewing.
