Experience/Background

J. Mark Campbell is the director of bands at Amherst County High School in Amherst, Va. From 1998-2002, he taught in the Franklin County Public Schools of North Carolina.

He adjudicated bands throughout North Carolina and South Carolina as a member of the Carolina All-American Judges Circuit 1999-2002. He also served as a judge for the 2000 and 2001 International Whistler's Convention & Competition. From 2000 to 2002, he served as a member of the Franklin county Arts Council as a member of the executive board. He was elected chair of the council in 2002.

Education

Mr. Campbell holds a BM in music education from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently pursuing an M.M. from James Madison University. He has studied trumpet with Rolla Durham, Edward Mirr, and James Kluesner. He has played trumpet as a freelance musician in Raleigh, N.C,. and Lynchburg, Va. He also performed as bugler for a summer at Chateau D'Ouzzilly in Lathus, France.
