LC to offer behavior analysis classes
Lynchburg College has been approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to offer graduate level courses in Applied Behavior Analysis. Lynchburg College is one of the few college programs in Virginia to receive this course sequence approval. According to a spokesman for the BACB, this approval process is an important step in creating an education and career path for professional behavior analysts that will be beneficial to all.
“A recent study states that at present one in 50 children are diagnosed with some form of autism,” said Dr. Gena Barnhill, director of special education programs at Lynchburg College. “As a result, there is a tremendous need for services and not enough qualified people. We are excited about the opportunity to train individuals to meet this ever increasing need.”
Students may take courses as a cohort beginning June 3. Some courses will be offered online, but all classes will be held on Mondays beginning at 4:30 p.m.
