Experience and Background
Judge Lawrence Janow (retired) served as a juvenile and domestic relations district court judge from 1979-2005, and practiced law from 1968-1979.
He has taught at Sweet Briar College and Lynchburg College.
Personal Information
Judge Janow volunteers for the Amherst Search and Rescue Team; Charlottesville, Albemarle, UVA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT); and the Lynchburg General Hospital emergency room. He is a member of the board of directors for the Amherst County Habitat for Humanity.
He has been married to Phyllis, an LC graduate, for over 30 years. They have three children, one grandson, and two golden retrievers. Judge Janow enjoys outdoor activities, cycling, working out, and gardening.
