Great Decisions 2011

Two members of the LC community will discuss global challenges that the Foreign Policy Association sees as among the most significant and far-reaching for 2011 during Great Decisions Lecture Series each Thursday in February at the Lynchburg Public Library Community Room. The lectures begin at 3 p.m., following light refreshments at 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Marek Payerhin, LC associate professor of political science and international relations, will launch the series on Feb. 3 with "Germany Ascendant."

Anne Gibbons, associate chaplain at LC, will present "Rebuilding Haiti" on Feb. 24.

The other two speakers are: Dr. John Abell of Randolph College on "Responding to the Financial and Economic Crisis on Feb. 10, and Dr. Padmini Coopamah of Sweet Briar College on "Horn of Africa" on Feb. 17.

If the Lynchburg Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, the presentation for that day will be canceled and rescheduled for the first Thursday in March if possible. The Lynchburg Branch of the AAUW, the League of Women Voters of Lynchburg, the YWCA, and the Lynchburg Public Library sponsor these annual talks.
