Free summer concert

A free summer choral concert will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Sydnor Performance Hall to highlight the work of the graduate choral conducting students in the college's master of arts in music program.

Student conductors will conduct the LC Summer Choral Union-Practicum Choir and the Graduate Chamber Choir. The program includes a variety of choral selections ranging from Renaissance motets to works by a Greek composer. David Hill and Matthew Booth will accompany.

The following students are currently enrolled in the MA in music (choral conducting emphasis) program: Jeremy Craft, Choral Music Teacher, Jefferson Forest High School, Forest, Va.; Barbara Elliott, Choral Music Teacher, Heritage High School, Lynchburg, Va.; Glynis Hopkins, Music Director at the Surfside United Methodist Church, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Jennifer Jarrett, Choral Music Teacher, Menchville High School, Newport News, Va.; Kevin Kvam, Music Teacher, Korea International School, South Korea; Lee Anne Sheridan, Choral Music Teacher, George Washington High School, Danville, Va.; Antonis Ververis, Choral Music Teacher in Greece.

Lynchburg College's master of arts in music program is an intensive six-week summer graduate program in choral or instrumental conducting that provides advanced and in-depth training for current conducting professionals, as well as for those preparing for doctoral programs in conducting. Dr. Jong Kim, LC professor of music and director of choral activities, is program director.
