Experience and Background

I began teaching in 1991 as a doctoral student in Family and Child Development at Virginia Tech. I graduated in 1994 with a PhD specializing in family studies.

Since then, I have taught at Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Central Virginia Community College, and Lynchburg College. I have been an assistant professor at Lynchburg College since 1999.

I have over 20 years of experience in counseling/consulting with a variety of community agencies, such as Central Virginia Community Services, Employee Assistance of Central Virginia, The Rivermont School, The Arc of Central Virginia, Lynchburg Speech Therapy, and have been in private practice as a counselor since 1996.
