Concert Choir to sing Saturday

concert choirThe Lynchburg College Concert Choir will present a spring concert Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Snidow Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

The choir will perform a wide variety of choral selections featuring, “Venite Exultemus Domino”  by Jan Pieterszoom Sweelinck of the Netherlands; “In virtute tua” by Polish composer Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki with flute soloists Sarah Saul and Elizabeth Cantrall; Italian Madrigals by Orazio Vecchi and Giovanni Gastoldi; and works by  American composers including Wedding Cantata  by Daniel Pinkham, “Yo le canto” by  David Brunner, “In Remembrance” from Requiem by Eleanor Daley, “Sure on This Shining Night” from Nocturnes by Morten Lauridsen, “Music Down In My Soul” by Moses Hogan, and “Freedom Come” from Bandari: Inside These Walls by Ben Allaway with soloists Brooke Niblett and Tevin Ware. Rose M. Peak will be accompanist for the concert.

Dr. Jong Hyun Kim, professor of music and director of choral activities/vocal studies, directs the Concert Choir, which is an auditioned group composed of student singers who are music and non-music majors from Central Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic states, South Korea, China, and Indonesia.
