Marketing consultant John P. Reilly, a 1986 graduate of University of Lynchburg, will be the commencement speaker during LC’s graduation exercises at 10 a.m. May 12, 2012. About 500 undergraduates and 129 graduate students will receive their degrees. Check the full commencement schedule.
Most recently, Reilly worked for Studio Squared in Richmond, where he was responsible for leading the development and execution of sales and marketing strategies for the Walmart Smart Network, a next-generation in-store media network.
Before going to work for Studio Squared in 2009, Reilly led partnership marketing, promotion, and public relations for Circuit City Stores, Inc., and KB Toys.
Reilly enjoys running, sailing, snowboarding, and travel. He is a member of the Greater Richmond Sailing Association Board of Directors. He was a member of the Advisory Board of the Port Authority Police (N.Y./N.J.) 9/11 World Trade Disaster Survivors Fund from 2001 to 2005.
LC will also award three honorary degrees. A Doctor of Science will be awarded to:
Dr. Pauline Rose Clance ’60, a noted clinical and research psychologist.
Doctors of Humane Letters will be awarded to:
Dr. Pete Warren, professor emeritus of counseling and former chaplain of University of Lynchburg, and
Dr. Virgil Wood, civil rights activist who worked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
