Anderson Leadership Conference

Monday January 30 2012

Randi Pupkin '84, executive director of Art with a Heart, will be the keynote speaker for Lynchburg College's Anderson Leadership Conference on February 11 in Schewel Hall.

Once described as the "runaway lawyer," Randi left her successful law practice to establish Art with a Heart, a nonprofit traveling art program that brings the gift of art to young and old in disadvantaged communities in Baltimore, Md. In 2005 she was named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women and received an "e-chievement award" from etown, a nationally syndicated radio program. She also was selected one of Smart Woman magazine's 2006 Bravo Entrepreneur Award winners. In 2009, she was guest speaker at LC's Commencement.

The Anderson Leadership Conference is an annual one-day event that features inspiring and fun workshops led by faculty, students, and staff. This year's theme is Sustainable Leadership and includes the following workshops:

"Leadership for Sustained Motivation" led by Dr. Joe Turek, dean of the School of Business and Economics

"When there aren't 25 hours in a day : long term and short-term planning" led by Michelle Dillon, Office of Institutional Effectiveness

"How much is enough? Preventing over-involvement, under-achievement, and burn-out" led by Dr. Herbert Bruce, director of first-year programs

"Gender and Leadership" led by Dr. Mari Normyle, assistant dean, Academic and Career Services.

Attendees are asked to donate items from Art with a Heart's wish list, which is attached to the Pre-registration form. Pre-registration is available through February 3, but attendees may also register on February 11 starting at 11:15 a.m.
