Delta Sigma Pi

Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

Future Health and Fitness Professionals

Professional student organization designed to support, encourage, and provide assistance to members seeking professional opportunities at the local, state, and national levels. Membership in this organization is open to anyone with an interest in health, physical education, health promotion, athletic training, exercise physiology, sport management, or recreation.

German Club

A group of students who are interested in the German Culture and Language. We will be organizing German based events such as Film Nights, that open discussion on the german film industry, or German food evenings that will open the campus to the diversity of the German Culture. We will also be working with the language in order to increase the popularity of the German Program at Lynchburg College.

Green Thumb Alliance

We chose to modify our name slightly from the Green Thumb Club to the Green Thumb Alliance to recognize the addition of former AFEA members to the ranks of our organization. We promote sustainable living practices and a push towards cleaner greener energy and other environmental issues.

Lynchburg College Athletic Training Club

This organization is for Athletic Training majors that are looking to get more involved with service opportunities. The organization promotes Athletic Training and the people that work in this growing field.

Lynchburg College Chapter of Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society

For all students interested in science who want to become better aquainted with the challenges faced by modern-day chemists. Also, to introduce students to technical materials of the science world, prepare them for a profession in the field of science and allow for students to make connections with other professionals.

Lynchburg College Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management

The Society for Human Resource Management is the worlds largest association devoted to human resource management.SHRM serves the needs of the human resource management professional by providing the most essential and comprehensive set of resources available. In addition, the Society is committed to advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resource professionals to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy

Lynchburg College Student Athletic Training Club

This organization is for Athletic Training majors that are looking to get more involved with service opportunities. We also bring speakers in the health profession to campus.

Public Relations Students Society of America

PRSSA is a student run organization striving to inform students about the skills and experiences needed in the PR world. PRSSA allows students to gain access to multiple resources allowing them to gain networking skills and work like experiences. The different committees of PRSSA allow its participants to actively partake in the operations of the organization and further provide aid for other organizations who wish to publicize their own events.

Society of Physics Students

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association explicitly designed for students. Membership, through collegiate chapters, is open to anyone interested in physics. The only requirement for membership is that you be interested in physics. Besides physics majors, our members include majors in chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, mathematics, medicine, and other fields.

SAB is a student-run organization that provides the campus with diverse cultural, social, educational, and recreational programs and events.

Student Nurses Association of Lynchburg College

We hold monthly meetings that we have speakers come talk about various topics, from their personal job, experiences they have had throughout their careers, some come to do recruitment, etc. Also, we participate in various service activities such as, roadside clean up, gathering supplies for families, collecting food for families especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas, we often have an Angel Tree, we sponsor Relay for Life here on campus, etc. We also have product based fundraising, at least one per semester to show off our LCSN pride. Its a way for our nursing program to give back to the community and its an excellent opportunity to get involved within the nursing program.

Theoria

Theoria is the philosophy club at Lynchburg College. Theoria's main goal is to promote academic discussion on controversial issues.

We are representatives to SGA, in particularly the Junior Class, and work as a private entity as well as a collective entity within SGA. Officers are responsible for the planning and implementation of events for the graduating class of 2012.

Lynchburg College Tea Party

The LCTP is a student organization dedicated to the defense of liberty and the Constitution of the United States. Our formal goal on campus is to create an awareness of how the actions of a few with power will affect the lives of students, and Americans in general, over the next several decades. We believe that the federal government has contradicted its purpose as enumerated in the Constitution of this Republic, and continues to abuse its power to this day. If it is not directly enslaving our country by destroying liberty, it is doing so indirectly be crushing its future generations with debt. The LCTP will exist primarily to inform the student populace of the aforementioned issues.

Student Judicial Board

Members of the Student Judicial Boards promote awareness of and uphold the Honor and Student Conduct Codes and commitment to the principles of honor and integrity embodied in College policies. Board members focus on education, helping students, faculty, and staff alike to become knowledgeable of student rights and responsibilities as well as campus behavioral expectations detailed in the Honor and Student Conduct Codes (see The Hornet). Should alleged infractions of College policy occur, Board members serve as peer advisors to students charged with infractions and serve on hearing panels that determine appropriate address of misconduct.

Kappa Pi - Eta Omega Chapter

Kappa Pi - Eta Omega Chapter promotes arts appreciation and participation through ongoing exploration, and excellence at Lynchburg College. As an honorary fraternity, we require a minimum overall grade point average of 2.0 and an overall art average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). In exchange for this high academic achievement, our fraternity offers competitive scholarships for its members. We offer a chance for art students to spend more time together reinforcing their common interests in fine art, graphic arts, museum studies, and art history.

Order of Omega

Order of Omega is a Greek organization that recognizes those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, encourages them to continue along this line, and inspires others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment. We bring together outstanding fraternity men and women to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs, and we bring together faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution's fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness.

The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. The vision of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the people of the world.

LC A Cappella Duly Noted

Group for students who want to sing a cappella music with others.

Lynchburg College Choral Directors Association

This organization is a bridge for students who want to be choral directors in the real world. We offer great resources to students in training to be choral directors along with our national organization. We promote and foster choral singing which will provide artistic and spirited experiences for the participants.

The Lynchburg College Concert Choir preforms a variety of music on campus. All majors and minors are welcome.

Mu Phi Epsilon

The purposes of the Fraternity are the recognition of scholarship and musicianship, and the development of a bond of friendship among its members; its Aim is the advancement of music in the community, in the nation and in the world, through the promotion of musicianship, scholarship, therapy, and education, with an emphasis on service through music.

Religious/Spiritual


Campus Outreach at Lynchburg College

Campus Outreach (CO)is an evangelical Christian ministry whoe mission is "Glorifying God by building laborers on the college campus for the lost world". Our heart is to engage college students about the Bible and what it means for their life. We hope to help students who are Christian to gro in their fairth and provide relevant opportunities for others to investigate the Bible.

A club for Episcopalians and non-Episcopalians to meet once a week for conversation, prayer, and fun.

Catholic Community of Lynchburg College

The Catholic Community of Lynchburg College (CCLC) provides a spiritual home for all those seeking a place to explore and deepen their relationship with God through prayer, service, and social activities. In addition to Sunday Mass and communion services, spiritual opportunities include weekly prayer groups, sacramental preparation, and retreats. Service activities include preparing meals for people who are homeless, developing our Haiti partnership, and increasing awareness of peace and justice issues. Social programs include our weekly simple supper on Sunday nights and road trips to the mountains. CCLC is open to students, faculty, staff, families, and any who find in us a community of spiritual welcome and hospitality.

Disciples on Campus

We are an organization that celebrates the Christian Church(Disciples of Christ)connection to Lynchburg College that is dedicated to worship, fellowship, and bible study for all interested LC students regardless of religious beliefs or affiliation.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

To present to athletes, coaches, and students and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.

Hillel

Hillel is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world and provides opportunities for Jewish students to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity. Hillel helps students find a balance in being distinctively Jewish and universally human by encouraging the pursuit of tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world), and Jewish learning. LC Hillel meets every other Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Spiritual Life Center.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

InterVarsity is a community of Christians who love LC and want to make Christ known and glorified on campus!

lynchburg christian fellowship

[lcf] desires to see students from all walks of life, denominations, and convictions come together under the banner of Jesus for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and service. We want to engage college students and see them develop an intimate relationship with Jesus. We provide an on-campus worship experience on Sunday mornings for students to belong to regardless of their denomination or background. Our service is geared towards twenty somethings and college students on the campus at Lynchburg College. We care about far more than just Sunday mornings though. We want to see students living out their faith Monday through Saturday as well. For this reason we provide [journey groups]. These are our small groups that meet weekly in the evenings to help each other journey through life together, specifically spiritually. These groups are student lead and are discussion driven while providing a time of prayer for each other and the campus. We are associated with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry of Virginia as well as supported by the Lynchburg Baptist Association. Through both of these supporters we are providing a campus ministry that reaches all different denominations and students from all different walks of life.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated - Omicron Sigma Chapter

Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-trained women. Alpha Kappa Alpha's influence extends beyond campus quads and student interest. It has a legacy of service that deepens, rather than ends, with college graduation. The goals of its program activities center on significant issues in families, communities, government halls and world assembly chambers. Its efforts constitute a priceless part of the global experience in the 21st century.

Alpha Chi Omega: a women's fraternity founded on October 15, 1885. Currently, there are 134 chapters of Alpha Chi Omega at colleges and universities across the United States and more than 200,000 lifetime members.

ACS serves as an advisory board to MACS. ACS promotes commuter student involvemnet with the campus community. ACS serves to address the needs of commuter students. The the use of social and educational programs, ACS trys to help commuters students feel like a part of the campus community.

Sigma Nu

Founded by three cadets at the Virginia Military Institute in a period of civil strife known as the Reconstruction, Sigma Nu represented a radical departure from the times. The system of physical abuse and hazing of underclassmen at VMI led to James Frank Hopkins, Greenfield Quarles, and James McIlvaine Riley to form the "Legion of Honor" which soon became Sigma Nu Fraternity. So, amidst a backdrop of turmoil, North America's first "Honor" fraternity was established. (www.sigmanu.org/about/history)

Special Interest


Amnesty International

Amnesty International undertakes research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights. These ideas have been upheld here at Lynchburg College since 2005 when the chapter was created.

Expand Your Horizon Club

EYH Club is a student organization that has an alliance with the Lynchburg College EYH program. Our program will develop a more personal relationship with first generation students. Our club will help students learn time management skills, and how to better the college experience. We will help struggling students develop ways to achieve their school goals.

A Student-run media organization that produces a news broadcast in addition to student-created original programming. Eye on LC members get experience in post production, TV production and reporting.

This campus organization was created in order to raise funds and awareness for the international Operation Smile organization.

Lynchburg College Pre-Health Club

The Lynchburg College Pre-Health Club aspires to recruit student interest in health professional fields. Through guest speakers, field trips to professional schools and health facilities, community involvement, and mock interviews, this organization aims to help students secure their interest in and provide foresight into a health profession. The Pre-Health Club would also like to provide a network for interested students to enter into volunteer and shadowing opportunities in health-related fields. The more opportunities each member can obtain will only increase the club's cache of knowledge, and therefore, its value to students, faculty, the college and greater community.

Peer Advocates for Campus Education

We run programs on campus to help educate the students to make healthier decisions regarding sex, alcohol, substances, nutrition, stress, and overall health.

Residential Student Organization

This is an organization that is open to any student that lives in campus housing. We hear concerns and try to change things that will make the residential experience better during the stay at LC. We also plan fun events too!

Sierra Student Coalition

SSC is a student-run national organization that sets national campaign priorities. We will focus mostly on the Climate Campus Challenge, in which we will aim to reduce the College's greenhouse gas emissions through a variety of conservation projects. Our main goal is to change the College's energy plan to one that is run off of renewable resources in the long term. Another goal of the club will be to educate the student body and gain awareness of the importance of energy conservation. We will be in close contact with the local chapter of the Sierra Club in Lynchburg, as well as bring in speakers to the college to educate people about the current climate issues.

Sport Clubs


Club Basketball

An intercollegiate team that participates in the East Coast Basketball League. We are very competitive and compete in regionals/nationals every year.

Club Equestrian

A co-ed club sports team of individuals who enjoy horseback riding and the responsibilties that come with the sport. This team is less competative then the varsity team but shows at local shows where you might show against some of the varsity riders. Come out for a great time and life changing experience!!!

Open to all stufents, faculty, and staff of Lynchburg College who wish to play field hockey in a fun and competitive environment but are unable to play on the College's varsity.

We are a club to help the progression of Wakeboarding, Wakeskating, and Water Skiing through out the sport and here at Lynchburg College. We will promote a learning environment on and off the water as well as do our best to help the local and campus community with events.

The purpose of Lynchburg College Women's Club Soccer is to provide a positive atmosphere for students in the LC community to play soccer in a recreational but competitive manner, without interfering with the academics of its members.

Wrestling Club

As a club, LC Wrestling provides a positive learning environment for anybody to further their knowledge in the sport of wrestling. As a competitive National Collegiate Wrestling Association member, LC Wrestling competes against any other NCWA qualified teams.
