Christmas Break

This information is related to residential closing. Academic classes and coursework must be followed per the instructor for that class. If there are any conflicts, please contact your RA or the Office of Residence Life for accommodations. Residential closing does NOT excuse a student from missing class.

It's almost semester break!  Here is a checklist of the things you need to do to your room and house before you leave.  For your safety and security, your room/house will be checked by the Residence Life staff and Security after you leave.  If you are leaving LC for the spring semester, you will need to contact the Office of Residence Life to schedule a check-out time.  Failure to complete the tasks listed below can result in appropriate fines, so be sure to:

  • Take down all Christmas decorations (i.e. lights, trees, etc), including those on the door.
  • Close and lock your windows and close the blinds.
  • CLEAN OUT YOUR REFRIGERATOR.  BE SURE TO DISPOSE OF ANY PERISHABLE ITEMS.
  • You may leave aquariums plugged in.  Be sure to give any fish a long-term feeder!
  • Turn out all lights and unplug all other electrical items (TVs, VCRs, stereos, computers, power strips, etc.)
  • Empty your trash can (failure to do so will result in a $50 charge).
  • If you are not returning to LC, you need to schedule a time with your RA to check you out of your residence.  All belongings must be moved out of your room prior to departing LC.
  • Turn your thermostat to low in a residence hall; 65 degrees in a house prior to leaving.

Here is a checklist of the things that you need to know before finals and before you leave LC:

  • You must leave twenty-four hours after your last exam.
  • Quiet hours begin Friday, December 12, 2008, at 7 p.m.  Quiet hours will be strictly enforced.  Violations can result in judicial action, fines, and/or evictions.
  • Everyone must be out of the residence by 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2008.
  • If you are staying past 10 p.m. on Saturday night, December 20, 2008, or have a late stay request, you must complete the late stay form below by Sunday, December 14, 2008

Residential facilities will reopen on Friday, January 16, 2009, at 10 a.m. 
You may not return before then!

Classes begin Monday, January 19, 2009.

Remember, if you are not returning to LC, you must schedule a time with your RA to check out.  Contact Residence Life at ext. 8320 to schedule a time.  (Please do so at least forty-eight hours in advance of your departure.)
