Center for Community Development and Social Justice

LC students work at a local school

The Center for Community Development and Social Justice (CCDSJ) was created to support community outreach and advocacy for issues of social justice for the Greater Lynchburg Area.

The CCDSJ promotes relationships among government agencies, non-profits, and the Lynchburg College community. CCDSJ helps to support opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to engage in community-based research (CBR), service learning (SL), and civic engagement (CE). Specifically, faculty will work in partnership with agency officials to identify and improve CBR projects; students engaged in SL will be involved with non-profits and community services agencies as part of their academic curriculum; and, faculty and students will investigate effects of CE in social justice.

If you are interested in participating in or developing a community-based research or service learning project, please contact the Center for Community Development and Social Justice at 434.544.8576 or McCabe@lynchburg.edu.
