Experience/Background
I have taught at Lynchburg College since 1964.My postdoctoral experience was at the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University where I worked with Herbert Levi in the position of Research Fellow in Arachnology. I have served in several positions in the American Arachnological Society which include president, director, and editor of the Journal of Arachnology.

Professional Interests/Research
My main area of research interest is the ecology, behavior, and systematics of spiders and have published several research articles. Mainly, I have studied a group of large spiders in the families Pisauridae and Trechaleidae that are typically associated with the margins of streams, lakes, ponds, and wetlands.
