Believing that education serves as a catalyst for social reform, Dr. Buck often challenges his students to examine their worldview in relation to many dimensions of the human experience. Themes relating to the oneness of mankind, world unity (looking beyond national identity), freedom from prejudice, harmony between science and religion, liberty and human rights, and universal education are typically found embedded in his courses.
Originally from Clark Mills, NY, Dr. Buck has taught in the areas of music, gifted, and special education (all grade levels). At Lynchburg College he serves as the coordinator of the undergraduate and graduate special education degree programs and he holds the position of The Elizabeth Forsyth Distinguished Professor of Education and Human Development. He is currently the President of the Board of Directors for Elizabeth’s Early Learning Center and he serves as an advisor for New Vistas School (a private school for students with learning challenges). Recently, he along with other colleagues trained teachers on the island of St. Lucia in the West Indies.
