Break Information

This information is related to residential closing. Academic classes and coursework must be followed per the instructor for that class. If there are any conflicts, please contact your RA or the Office of Residence Life for accommodations. Residential closing does NOT excuse a student from missing class.

During breaks and vacations, the residential areas of the campus are closed. If you would like to apply for permission to arrive back to campus early or to leave the campus late during one of these times, please click the appropriate link below.

Important Dates

Fall 2009

August 25, 2009:

Returning students can begin to arrive on campus (students that are with an organization or team that has been approved for early arrival will receive notification via e-mail).

August 26, 2009:

Mandatory Building Meetings (Dillard Theatre)

4 p.m.: Montgomery Hall Residents

5 p.m.: Tate Hall Residents

6 p.m. ; McWane Hall Residents

7 p.m.: Hundley, Freer, & Shack Hall Residents

August 27, 2009:

Mandatory Building Meetings (Ballroom)

8:30 p.m.: Townhouse, Courts, Apartment Residents

9:30 p.m.: College Owned Houses Residents

 

October 9, 2009:

Deadline for students to apply to stay late or arrive early for October break (http://mylc.lynchburg.edu, residential tab, arrival form)

October 14, 2009:

All residential facilities close at 9:30 p.m.

October 18, 2009:

All residential facilities open at 10 a.m.

November 17, 2009:

Deadline for students to apply to stay late or arrive early for Thanksgiving (http://mylc.lynchburg.edu, residential tab, arrival form)

November 20, 2009:

All residential facilities close at 9:30 p.m. (Approved students that have class or travel complications can stay until 10 a.m. on November 26, 2008)

November 29, 2009:

All residential facilities open at 10 a.m.

December 11, 2009:

24 hour "Quiet Hours" begin. Students must depart 24 hours after their last final.

December 12, 2009:

Deadline for students to apply to stay late for Winter Break or arrive early for Spring Semester (http://mylc.lynchburg.edu, residential tab, arrival form)

December 19, 2009:

All residential facilities close at 9:30 p.m.(Approved students that have class or travel complications can stay until 10 a.m. on December 20, 2009)

Spring 2010

January 15, 2010:

All residential facilities open at 10 a.m.

February 28, 2010:

Deadline for students to apply to stay late or arrive early for Spring Break (http://mylc.lynchburg.edu, residential tab, arrival form)

March 5, 2010:

All residential facilities close at 9:30 p.m. (Approved students that have class or travel complications can stay until 10 a.m. on March 6, 2010)

March 14, 2010:

All residential facilities open at 10 a.m.

May 4, 2010:

24 hour "Quiet Hours" begin. Students must depart 24 hours after their last final.

May 9, 2010:

Deadline for students to apply to stay late for the Spring Semester (http://mylc.lynchburg.edu, residential tab, arrival form)

May 12, 2010:

All residential facilities close at 10 a.m. for non-graduating seniors. (Approved students that are graduating, taking summer school, study abroad, or still playing spring athletics can stay until 10 a.m. on May 16, 2010)

May 16, 2010:

All residential facilities close at 10 a.m. for all students. Students still on campus must either depart and turn in their key OR check into summer school housing. Athletic teams and students studying abroad will be consolidated into summer school housing for this week.
