Dr. Linda Andrews, R.N., Ed.D., Dean, School of HSHP and Associate Professor of Nursing

Experience/Background
I'm in my sixth year as school dean and twenty-eighth year as nursing faculty here at LC. I have taught primarily in adult health courses but throughout the years, I have taught in every field noted in the curriculum. During the early years at LC, I directed the RN-BSN program for RNs in the community with diplomas or associate degrees in nursing. I have served on most of the college committees and have been involved with accreditation visits and preparation for the College and the nursing program.

Degrees and Certifications
BSN, Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia
MSN, Medical College of Georgia
Ed.D., University of Virginia

Professional Interests/Research
Most of my current research work is focused on preparation of new deans/academic chairs to assume new roles in university/college settings. I have been working with Dean McCabe to collect data, and we have made a national presentation on our findings. Our work was published in late 2007. I continue to have concerns for care of the elderly in nursing homes, as well as the effect of shortages of professional staffing in all levels of health care.

Information on Courses Taught
I'm currently teaching Community Health Nursing and Alterations in Mental Health to senior nursing students. I work with faculty who teach the general education wellness course (HLTH 102) so that all sections are consistent and meet the objective of this goal.

Personal Info/Interests
When time permits, I enjoy working outdoors with yard work and flowers. I have interests in small-renovation home improvement projects and enjoy making old look new again.
