Westover Alumni Society Weekend for the Classes through 1974 at Lynchburg College.  Classes of 1955, ’60, ’65, ’70 in Reunion.  Welcome Members of the Class of 1974

Friday, April 24, 2015

2 – 5 p.m. REGISTRATION AND CHECK-IN, Collings Lobby, 1st Floor, Drysdale Student Center (watch for reserved parking) (pick-up your registration packet, including name tags, at check-in), Final schedule and campus maps on display, light refreshments provided.

4 – 5 p.m. SCHOLARSHIP RECEPTION WITH DONORS AND RECIPIENTS Celebrate with us as scholarship recipients meet and thank their benefactors for their scholarship assistance.  First floor, Schewel Hall

6 – 7:30 p.m. WESTOVER ALUMNI SOCIETY WELCOME HOME RECEPTION, Hall Campus Center, Memorial Ballroom. Hosted by President Kenneth Garren, Mrs. Sheila Garren, Judy Goding ’69, ’75 MEd, Past LC Alumni Association President, and Russ Hovda ’68.  All alumni invited, casual attire, appetizers, cash bar ($12.50 per person).

7:30 p.m. LC Wind Symphony and Orchestra Spring Concert, Sydnor Performance Hall, Schewel Hall.  Conducted by Dr. Oeida M. Hatcher, professor of music. The concert will feature Noemi Lee as concert – pianist performing with the LC Orchestra The Piano Concert in A minor by Edvard Grieg. The Wind Symphony will also be performing a separate full length work as well.  Admission is free, but tickets are required. Call the Music Department at 434.544.8344 to reserve your tickets.

7:30 p.m. Danceworks – A Celebration of the Decades, Dillard Theatre, Dillard Fine Arts Center. Staff. Alumni, and Student choreographed pieces performed in a variety of dance styles. No tickets required.

10 – 11 a.m. LC TOWN HALL MEETING, West Room, 3rd floor, Drysdale Student Center. Join senior College administrators for an opportunity to learn more about current LC headlines and current trends in higher education

10 – 11 a.m. CLASS REUNION 2016 WORKSHOP FOR THE CLASSES OF 1956, ’61, ’66, AND ’71, Begin planning for your 2016 Class Reunions at Westover Alumni Society Weekend 2016 (April 22-24, 2016), Gertrude Burton Room, 3rd floor, Drysdale Student Center (Tate Hall end).

11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. CLASS OF 1955 60th, 1960 55th, 1965 50th, and 1970 45th REUNION LUNCHEONS, Memorial Ballroom, 3rd floor, Hall Campus Center. ($15 per person); Classes of ’55, ’60, ’65 and ’70 and their guests are invited.  Dr. Julius Sigler ’62, Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs, will make a special LC historical presentation.  Open to all alumni.
 

1:30 – 3 p.m. REMINISCE AND RECONNECT, Class members will reminisce and reconnect, sharing famous LC memories or proudest accomplishments after graduation; classmates who have passed will be remembered and recognized. Class Photos.

5:30 – 7 p.m. WESTOVER ALUMNI SOCIETY DINNER,
Memorial Ballroom, Hall Campus Center. Class Reunion recognitions and Class Gift presentations. Hosted by President Kenneth Garren, Mrs. Sheila Garren, Judy Goding ’69, ’75 MEd, Past LC Alumni Association President, and Russ Hovda ’68.  Coat and tie, cash bar. (Registration required; $25 per person).

7:30 p.m. LC Concert Choir Spring Concert, “Wanting Memories.” Conducted by Dr. J. Kim, professor of music.  Musical selections include Homilius’ Deo dicamus gratias, Rossi’s Odecha ki anitani, Gjello’s Northern Lights, Wilberg’s arrangement of Homeward Bound, Barnwell’s Wanting Memories, and more.

Daura Gallery, Dillard Fine Arts Center:  Remembrance and Rediscovery: Disney Deconstructed, LC’s museum studies students are learning what it takes to plan,  develop, interpret and design museum  exhibitions using limited edition commemorative lithographs of classic  animated films by the Walt Disney Studios®, recently donated to the Daura Gallery by LC  Advancement Officer Tom Burrowes ‘93. Students Jared Bloomquist ‘15, Laura Meisner ‘17, Eva Pappas ‘18, and Erin Sinski ’17 are examining Disney’s animated films through the lenses of literary derivation, gender issues, race and social outcasts, and self-discovery and adventure. The exhibition opens on Monday, April 20 (opening reception 4-5:30 p.m.), and continues through Friday, May 15.
