Professional Interests
Research methodology, analysis, and ethics; community-based and action research and evaluation of programs and services in human services; human services and social work courses including topics related to organizational practice and policy, leadership, administration, supervision, management, social welfare policy, case management, group work, and evidence-based practice. Courses focusing on advocacy, social justice, and public health topics.
Through my work in student and academic affairs, I have also cultivated a strong interest in coursework focusing on study skills, student success, and other topics pertinent to new students (first year and transfer; graduate and undergraduate).
Research Interests
- Organizational commitment to social justice, particularly in higher education
- Self-care, wellness, compassion fatigue, and burnout among students and professionals in the helping professions
- Organizational support for mindfulness, well-being, and self-care among employees and clients as a way to address compassion fatigue and increase positive outcomes
- The organizational capacity in the 21st century institutions of higher education to meet the needs of students who identify as members of one or more vulnerable and/or oppressed groups
- The relationship between professional ethics and research ethics
