Adjunct Instructor of Music
Ms. Bouknight teaches both applied voice and class voice. Her oratorio experience includes Mozart’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Bach’s St. John Passion and Magnificat, Durufle’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, to name a few. She has premiered two oratorios by local composer Aaron Garber; singing the title role in his oratorio Mary, the Mother of Jesus and the narrator in Job. On the operatic stage Ms. Bouknight has performed roles including the title role in Carmen, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, and Maddalena in Rigoletto. She has sung with numerous opera companies and apprentice programs such as Indianapolis Opera, Knoxville Opera, Newberry Opera, Opera North, Opera in the Ozarks, and Opera on the James.
Ms. Bouknight earned her master’s in music education from Indiana University and her master’s in performance from the University of Tennessee.
She directs the Franklin County Children’s choir and maintains a private voice studio in her home in Wirtz, Virginia, near Smith Mountain Lake. There she is currently playing her favorite role thus far, that of wife and mother of three.
